Hydrogen’s commercial story has a project-development stage
A Hydropulse announcement illustrates why dates and commitments belong beside a capacity figure.

The source record
ITM Power’s 12 October 2026 release describes Heads of Terms for a 150 MW Hydropulse project with a European refinery. The stated targets are a 2027 investment decision and 2029 production, rather than completed delivery.
A useful distinction
Our interpretation is that readers need a project timeline as well as a technology description. A proposed facility can be technically understandable while still requiring further commercial work. Treating its stated capacity as if it were already operating erases the distinction that makes the announcement useful.
Reading across sectors
The same reading habit applies to other capital projects: name the current stage and identify the next document that could move it forward. That is an editorial framework, not a claim that all projects follow identical contracts, financing terms or engineering requirements.
What would change the picture
A later source could establish revised timing, firmer commitments or additional conditions. Until then, preserve the dates and attribution of the present release. We have not modelled project returns or independently verified the underlying agreements.
